About

Our Philosophy

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” -Aaron Siskind

Our goal is to capture your events in such a way that every time you look at your photographs you are reminded of how it felt when they were captured. We are all about grasping who you are, from the love and enjoyment of your wedding day to the smiles of your children, our desire is to catch the little things that make you, you.

The instances that define you, the split seconds that excite you, the moments that change you, these are the minuets in time that will tell your story. Higher Focus Photography, focusing in on life, love, passion………. You.

Katy Winters

I have always done photography, I can’t really remember a time that I wasn’t excited about holding a camera in my hands. When I turned eight years old one of my friends gave me a disposable camera for my birthday. I can still remember how my heart leaped for joy over that silly green disposable camera, and even then I didn’t realize that this little leap for joy was going to turn into something much bigger.

Several years later my neighbor opened up her own photography business, and I asked her to teach me how to shoot. Since that moment I rarely went anywhere without my camera, we became inseparable. Slowly over the past ten years this hobby turned into more then just a hobby, it became my passion. I don’t know what I would do if photography didn’t exist, it’s a part of me.

Photography for me has changed the way I see. I used to see it as looking through the “eyes” of my camera, now I see it as looking through the eyes of others, and using the camera as a tool to grasp what they see. I love photographing people, and I love capturing their special moments, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world!

Photography is a part of me, it’s my passion, my heart, it always has been and it always will be. This is who I am, Katy Winters.
